Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 11, 2026
Aether is built around a simple idea: your media is yours. The app has no servers of its own, no accounts of its own, and no interest in your data.
What Aether collects
Nothing. Aether contains no analytics, no tracking SDKs and no advertising. We do not collect, store or sell any personal information.
Where your data lives
- Server credentials — sign-in tokens for your Plex or Jellyfin servers are stored securely on your device and are used only to talk to the servers you connected. They never pass through us.
- Your media and watch history — stay between your device and your own servers. Playback progress and watched state are synced to your Plex/Jellyfin server, exactly as those servers are designed to do.
- Downloads and the local library — stored on your device, fully under your control.
Third-party services
When you import files into the Local Library, Aether matches them against TMDb (The Movie Database) to fetch titles, artwork and metadata. Only the parsed file name and year are sent for matching — never the file itself, your identity or your location. See the TMDb privacy policy.
Diagnostics
If something breaks, you can send a diagnostic report from Settings — it is delivered by email, only when you choose to send it, and contains no tokens, passwords or media titles. Apple may additionally share anonymized crash reports with us if you opted into that in your device settings.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated effective date.
