StartupCheckpoint

struct StartupCheckpoint

Declared in Sources/PrismCore/StartupProgress.swift · PrismCore 3.5.4

One thing that really happened during PrismCoreSession.start(), with the time it happened at.

start() can legitimately take twenty seconds on a slow origin, and until these existed a host could only show a spinner: it could not tell "still opening the file over SMB" from "probed fine, muxing the first segment", and so could not tell the user anything, or decide that this one is hopeless while a slower but progressing one is not.

Instance properties

let phase: StartupPhase

No documentation comment in the source.

let elapsed: Duration

Time from the start() call to this checkpoint, stamped at the moment the event happened rather than when the host got around to reading it.

This is the diagnostic payoff: a host that logs the five checkpoints knows which of them ate the twenty seconds, which is the difference between "the server is slow" and "our planner is slow" — a distinction no amount of staring at a timeout tells you.
